St Demetrios Greek Language School is a community language school operated by the Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of St Demetrios, St Marys under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. The school is administered by the Administrative Committee of the Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of St Demetrios and the Rector of the above-mentioned church organisation. The Greek language school was established in 1970 together with the Greek Orthodox Church of St Demetrios to which it belongs. The purpose of the school is to teach the Modern Greek Language, the Orthodox Faith, Greek culture, traditions and the history of Greece and Cyprus. This is primarily for the children of the parish but is open to anyone in the community who wishes to enrol their children at the school.  The material taught reinforces the ethnic, linguistic and religious identity of Greece with the support of trained professionals and the Church leaders.
